capac make a sound which is comparable to taking the organic and teasing it through the electronic - rich harmonies weave through and around tight beats.

it is a sound appreciated as much on the dance floor as it is in headphones with closed eyes.

New Year • New Games • New Gigs •

First blog of the new year...little slack perhaps seeing as it's now February. We've very good reason however, the EP is pretty much finished now, and we've also been building this and playing with it a fair bit...

On a more musical note, we're happy to announce our first shows of 2010, starting on February 13th we'll be playing in Hay-On-Wye (the home of the massive annual literature festival) at The Globe. Secondly a Liverpool show at Korova with some loud bands playing at a night subtly titled 'Too F•cking Loud'. That one is on 17th February. Thirdly, in true saving best until last tradition we've been chosen to play at one of Huw Stephens' Introducing shows down in London at The Social. Some of you may remember Huw played 'palindrome' on his show late last year and we're really keen to show him what we've got as a live package. As if that couldn't get any better we'll be joining Nedry (complete with Ayu this time around) and a Bristol band called Wilder, who have just signed with Rough Trade. Details/Flyers etc are over at the gigs page.

We should have a little something for you for the next blog, but in the meantime have a listen to this lovely ambient/drone piece by Jake (A Time For Burning)

End of the year/decade...

So christmas has come and gone, and the end of 2009 and what everyone has decided to call the noughties are also on their way out. We thought we'd share with you all a couple of artists we've thoroughly enjoyed working with and/or meeting this year.

Nedry.

We've mentioned them many times before and have played a couple of shows with them this year. They've recently been signed to Monotreme Records (who will be re-releasing their debut Condors) and have a tour planned for next March with 65 Days Of Static. These peeps are at the top of the list because you NEED to hear them. Someone wrote recently that they have a sound so unique and special that it's kinda like the first time you heard Portishead or Bjork....that sums it up really. Oh and they're really top people too, so all the best to them.

Worriedaboutsatan.

Only came in to contact with these two guys in the last couple of months, shame we didn't hear of them earlier. Arrivals, their debut album available on Gizeh Records, has pretty much been the soundtrack to my winter. If you like Gas, or The Field, or the prospect of post-rock at it's most ambient with carefully selected techno beats turns you on these will make you happy. We recently did a little remix swap with them, you can hear the results here and here.

PRDCTV.

We maybe met Alex back in 2008, not sure...but either way his music should be heard. We played a gig with him in August, it was a truly original sight for what one might call folktronica. He wasn't crouched behind a laptop/sampler etc etc, nope...Alex plays the drums, all the drums, every beat - fantastic. Guitar duties are filled by his friend Chima and then other effects/squeeks/blips and bleeps are played from samplers. Great stuff. He also runs a label called Geometric Records which is home to the fabulous Envelope (think Boards of Canada-esque sounds, but less 70's).

Ambeson.

Rich. His tunes are top. His soundtracks are top. His remixes are top. If you like beats, bass, guitars and glockenspiel he's your man. He kindly remixed palindrome a while back, hear it here, in returned we did the same to the fantastically titled Djerzinski which you can hear here. I've also just been informed that on 23rd January he'll be playing his first live show, soundtracking a live film projection at the Roxy Bar & Screen in LDN. I'm sure this will be fantastic as I know a lot of time has gone in to preparing his live take on things; gutted we live so far away from the big city.

Joe Pettersen.

This guy has got so dark over the past year. I mean, I love his old tunes but the new tracks he's coming out with are just incredible. Proper late late late night stuff. He's had two releases out this year, one on Seamless Recordings and more recently on Endemic Digital; Both are certainly worthy of a purchase.

Well, there we go, goodbye 2009.....here's to 2010.

A Last Minute Gig

On Friday just gone we played a last minute gig at the lovely Bad Format Social Club.

But first...earlier in the evening we saw A Time For Burning, at Korova, who were marvelous; one of the loudest gigs I think I've ever seen, close in volume to the ear splitting antics of Dinosaur jr. I'd highly recommend giving A Time For Burning a listen, especially if loud, thrashing, instrumental post-rock in the same vein as Mogwai is your thing.

We said our goodbyes and found Bad Format, and after a short spell on the retro arcade games we had a top night and really enjoyed playing, so a big thanks to everyone who came down and to Khalil and Emma of Chew Disco for putting us on.

Top Score!

New songs are sounding wicked, should have them for you in the next couple of months
